Advanced Electrolysis
Advanced Electrolysis
A safe, quick, and effective treatment for a range of skin blemishes and conditions.
Minor skin blemishes can have a major effect on how we look and feel about ourselves. Skin blemishes are more common than many people would think, and advanced electrolysis can treat these blemishes making a real difference to our confidence.
Electrolysis has been used for many years as a safe, quick, and effective treatment for a range of skin blemishes and conditions. Skin blemishes can and do occur on many different types of people and can be caused by natural ageing, UV damage and some health conditions.
What is Advanced Electrolysis?
Advanced electrolysis uses a current and fine needle to either cauterise or lift away the superficial skin giving immediate results to reduce and remove skin blemishes. After a consultation, we will discuss the treatment and aftercare you need to remove the blemishes with advanced electrolysis.
What Can Be Treated?
The skin blemishes that we treat are as follows.
- Skin Tags
These small blemishes are removed leaving a small mark which will fade over time.
Removal of skin tags is simple and quick with electrolysis. Skin tags are benign, innocuous growths which vary in size, shape and attachment. They are often found in areas where there is friction, such as where the skin creases or clothes rub. Skin tags (technically known as fibro-vascular papilloma) are increasingly common as we age and affect almost half of the population. While they are benign and do not pose any direct risk to your health, skin tags can easily be removed if they are impacting on your self-esteem or mental well-being.
- Red facial veins
Electrolysis can treat thread veins and broken capillaries on the face and upper body. The ultra-fine needle cauterises blood in the damaged area to clear the blemish. Telangiectasia, also known as red veins, thread veins and broken capillaries, are common in exposed and vulnerable areas such as the nose and cheeks.
- Milia
Once the electrolysis has cauterised and removed the milia it is reabsorbed back into the skin.
Usually seen around the eyes, including the eyelid and between the eyelashes, nose and upper cheeks. Milia are small, hard, round white nodules slightly raised above skin level, formed when keratin is trapped beneath the outer layer of the skin, forming a tiny cyst. Milia treatment is performed by inserting a tiny electrolysis needle (about the size of an eyelash) and applying a Short-Wave current.
- Cherry Angiomas (blood spots)
Cherry Angioma are small blood spots that are benign vascular blemishes. They can vary in size from small pin dots to as large as a penny; and in colour from bright red to darker tones. Cherry angiomas are not painful but may bleed when scratched and can become distressing, particularly if they are in difficult to mask areas. Diathermy techniques place can desiccate the tissue and cauterise blood.

ACP treatments are safe and effective and offer instantaneous results in many cases. Length of treatment very much depends on the problem and your skin specialist will advise you of this although it is difficult to state a definitive time.
The area worked on must not be over treated and your skin reactivity will be considered. Spacing technique and treatment intervals will be carefully considered in a treatment plan by the professional as well as considering your requirements, needs and wishes.
Advanced Electrolysis is suitable for most skin types. If you are in generally good health, there are few reasons why you should not be able to undergo this treatment. We can advise whether this is the most suitable treatment for you during your free, no-obligation skin health review. This treatment cannot be performed whilst being pregnant.
It feels like a short burst of heat; some areas are very comfortable and other areas may feel more sensitive.
Depending on the skin condition being treated and the size of it, you can expect some post treatment discomfort and scabbing as the area heals (usually no more than 7 days).
This is a temporary side effect. Results are visible immediately, with further improvements seen over a period, or following a series of sessions if required.
Many of our clients return to work and resume their normal activities immediately after one treatment.
